Cloud computing emerged as a significant technological trend about a decade ago. According to recent reports, Microsoft is preparing to release a cloud-based version of the Windows operating system. If this plan materializes, it will eliminate the need for a computer. Here are the details!
Microsoft aims to render computer usage unnecessary
As part of today’s public disclosure during the FTC hearing, an intriguing piece of information regarding Microsoft has come to light. According to the presentation, the company intends to develop a cloud-based service called Windows 365, targeting a broad audience.
The company’s goal is to create a comprehensive Windows operating system accessible from any device in the cloud. Windows 365, which was introduced in 2021, was initially available only for commercial customers. However, the company has integrated it into the Windows 11 operating system.
Microsoft discusses plans to further bring the Windows experience to the cloud in the following manner:
“Move Windows 11 increasingly to the cloud: Develop Windows 365 to deliver a complete Windows operating system through streaming to any device from the cloud. Harness the power of the cloud and the client to provide enhanced AI-driven services and seamless navigation in people’s digital experiences.”
It is stated that a future update will include Windows 365 Boot, which will provide users with the option of booting into a cloud-based instance of Windows instead of their local one. In addition to the cloud transition, Microsoft is exploring the opportunity to design their own ARM-based processors for Surface devices.
